Dr. Jacopo Mariotti graduated as M.D. at the University of Florence in 1998. Subsequently, we moved to Milan and specialized in Oncology/Hematology at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan under the supervision of prof A.M. Gianni, first, and prof. P. Corradini, thereafter. He started his research on transplant immunology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, USA, where he worked between 2004 and 2009 as research fellow at the Experimental Transplantation and Immunology branch. There, under the supervision of dr D. Fowler and dr. R. Gress, he developed mouse models of graft rejection and graft versus host disease (GVHD) and implemented the research on human ex-vivo expanded and rapamycin-modified T cells for allogeneic transplant use. Between 2009 and 2012 he worked again at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan where he was principal investigator of pre-clinical experiments of GVHD, with the granted support of the European Union and AIRC (Cancer Italian Association). He also worked as medical assistance at the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant branch directed by prof P. Corradini. Between 2012 and 2013 we worked at the Internal Medicine branch at San Paolo Hospital under the supervision of prof. M Cattaneo: there he became experienced with platelet and coagulation issues. Starting June 2013, he works as medical assistance at the Hematology and Blood Bank Unit of Treviglio Hospital. He currently supervises clinical trials on patients with lymphoma, actively collaborate with the Hematology branch of Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital in Bergamo (where he supervises a project of immunologic characterization of patients with lymphoma), reviews manuscripts for internationally recognized journals.
Dr. Mariotti main areas of interest are focused on immunology of allogeneic stem cell transplant and hematologic malignancies. In particular, his major areas of expertise are: lymphoma, GVHD and post-transplant side effects, immunology/immunotherapy.
