Research Interest

My research focuses on using historical data sources to explore the relationships between health, family structure, community characteristics and educational and occupational outcomes. My focus is primarily on the United States at the turn of the century. Current projects include investigating how health shocks lead families to redistribute resources among children, how historical segregation influenced racial gaps in health and socioeconomic status, and how intergenerational mobility has evolved over the past century.
