Biography

He is a media specialist. He was also the referent on computer sciences, mathematics and physics of the Provincial library of Limburg. Between 2005 and 2008 I ran a DVD factory combining the CEO and CTO functions. During 2012 he was worked as public affairs consultant on the subject of e-procurement speaking at the European institutions on behalf of my client and coordinating and writing qualitative market research on the subject. At the moment I’m advisor about the publishing industry to the French Community of Belgium. He participated in the Cultuurraad of the city of Antwerp. He wrote the first Belgian book about the Internet (Vraagbaak Internet; published by Sybex). The book was a bestseller (2 reprints) and sold out several times. The Flemish administration for education advises teachers to read the book. He used to be the editor-in-chief of the award-winning monthly Wave and the leading Belgian IT-monthly Network&Telecom. He  wrote in English for Le Journal (European Commission), Rodale Press (Bicycling Magazine, Bicycling Online...), TVB Europe... and He used to write in German for Konradin Verlag (e.g. Die Computer Zeitung). All his other articles are in Dutch (Elsevier, AutomatiseringGids, MacWorld, Data News, Trends, EOS, Financieel Ekonomische Tijd, Collect, Kunsttijdschrift Vlaanderen, Origine, Clickx...) or French. I speak and write Dutch, French, English and German at native speaker level. His Spanish is good especially reading skills and he  has notions of Italian and Bahasa Indonesia. He did research for a number of publishers (De Rouck Cartographie, Keesing, Reed Elsevier, CMP Media…), an online bookstore (Proxis), a market research company (Censydiam) and an investment bank specialized in media (Communications Equity Associates). I wrote a weekly section “Modem” in the only Belgian newsweekly Knack (between 1994 and 2000). I wrote a monthly column of a more satirical nature for Compres (a forthnightly magazine for the Dutch printing industry) and PC World Belgium. In 1999 I set up a CD and DVD duplication company evolving over the years into a large company including a CD and DVD factory in Wallonia. In this function I worked for most scientific and educational publishers (Pelckmans, DeBoeck, Larcier, Brepols, Nijgh Versluys, Elsevier, Wolters-Kluwer, Plantin, Brill, IDC publishers, Van In, De Sikkel, Standaard Uitgeverij...). Other customers included Nikon, Canon, Nationale Bank van België, Euronext, Johnson & Johnson, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Lifescan, Cordis, Wyeth, ING, the Flemish government, the Walloon region, Fedasil, Cipal, the federal government of Belgium, UCB, Toneelhuis, Villanella, Froefroe, Lady Lynn... I was the correspondent at the European Union for 'Automatisering Gids' (an award-winning Dutch ITweekly; since April 1992), 'Die Computer Zeitung' (a German IT-weekly), the Dutch Sunday newspaper 'HP/De Tijd op Zondag' (affiliated with the Observer in London; 55.000 subscribers)... Occasionally I give lectures about new media, the Internet, art or science. I did give some Internet-courses for Elsevier Training, Kluwer Opleidingen, Cevora and the Flemish Government (at Vlekho). In 2010 I gave the network manager course at Syntra Mechelen. The Flemish Government (Media and Film department) awarded me grants for the 3 day seminar Management in de Journalistiek by Leon de Wolff and the course and workshops Financieel Economische Journalistiek
