Nancy Byl

Biography

Dr Nancy Byl is currently Emeritus Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science. She obtained her B.S. from the University of California, San Francisco and her MPH and PhD from the University of California, Berkley. After completing her MPH she joined the UCSF faculty in the Division of Ambulatory and Community Medicine in l968. She was the Director of Rehabilitation at Pacific Medical Center and Childrens Hospital and then completed her PhD in 1985. She joined the faculty in the Curriculum of Physical Therapy in l985 and served as Chair until 2008. She has received numerous awards becoming a Catherine Worthingham Fellow and receiving the Lucy Blair Service Award from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She also received the Charles Magistro Award for Outstanding Service, the Royce B Noland Award of Merit and the outstanding Research Presentation Award from the California Chapter of the APTA. Dr. Byl currently provides specialty lectures in the academic program and provides patient care in the UCSF PT Health and Wellness Center. Dr Nancy Byl has 85 peer reviewed publications. Dr Nancy Byl has research interest in neural plasticity, neurological or musculoskeletal degenerative disease.
