After a post-doctoral research assignment at NIST, Colorado, USA and a brief stay at NIT, Warangal as faculty member, he moved to CFTRI, Mysore in 1990, where he is continuing till date
 
Biography

Dr. Raghavarao is basically a Chemical Engineer specialized in the areas of Food Engineering and Biotechnology. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University (1981) and directly Ph.D from ICT, Mumbai (formerly UDCT) in 1987. After a post-doctoral research assignment at NIST, Colorado, USA and a brief stay at NIT, Warangal as faculty member, he moved to CFTRI, Mysore in 1990, where he is continuing till date. In 2002 has taken over as Head of Food Engineering, continued till 2012 and currently working as Chief Scientist. Between 1997-1999, he had been to University of Colorado, Boulder on sabbatical (supported by DBT Long term Research Associateship). At CFTRI he has initiated several new research areas both in Food Engineering and Biotechnology. He is a visiting faculty at University of Mysore. Dr. Raghavarao has guided 18 students as well as fellow scientists for their Ph.D programs in Food Engineering and Biotechnology and currently guiding 5 students. He has over 173 publications in International Journals, 28 International patents, 55 Indian patents and 23 processes to his credit, several of them were transferred to industry. He has been on the International Editorial Board of Food and Biotechnology journals.

Biotechnology include Downstream Processing by Drying of microorganisms for environmental applications, Aqueous Two Phase Extraction, Reverse Micellar Extraction, Adsorption
