AMM Sharif Ullah was born and raised in Bangladesh. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1992. He received his Master and Doctor of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering (Major: Manufacturing) from Kansai University Graduate School in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He worked as a full-time faculty member at Asian Institute of Technology (2000-2002, Assistant Professor), United Arab Emirates University (2002-2006, Assistant Professor, 2006-2009, Associate Professor). He moved to Japan again in 2009, and joined Kitami Institute of Technology as a full-time faculty member (Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering), where he is still continuing, and directs the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Research Laboratory.
He has been offering courses related to product realization (creativity, design, manufacturing, operations, sustainability, and systems) in both undergraduate/graduate levels. He has been mentoring a large number of students (about 100 students of various nationalities) for their senior design projects, theses, and dissertations.
