I am currently a post-doctoral fellow at the Nanoscience and Technology Division, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois, USA. I have been working in the area of nanofabrication and nanotechnology for a few years now. More specifically, I am using soft elastomeric polymers in the fabrication of microfluidic devices that can be used for chemical synthesis (controlling the size and morphology of nanocrystals) and for modulating surface chemistry of nanoparticles and elastomeric polymers. My Ph.D. thesis primarily focused on developing soft microreactors for the synthesis and deposition of nanocrystals and functional coatings with controlled dimensions and morphology. This also included a very thorough characterization using various analytical techniques including spectroscopy, electron microscopy, mechanical testing, etc. I also worked on functionalizing different elastomeric polymers and hydrogels to study the growth and/or assembly of nano/microparticles. My current projects involve the use of microfluidic technology and nanoparticles for sensing applications in areas such as genomics and photonics.
