Osteoarthritis is a common form of arthritis occurring in males after the age of 45 and females after the age of 55. It generally occurs through aging and not due to any particular wound or disease. With aging, the cartilage proteins, present between bones, get degenerated due to increased water content. Individuals having increased uric acid content in their body can get this disease easily due to the deposition of uric acid crystals in the cartilage that causes its degeneration. Individuals that have works of weight lifting get more affected with the disease because of the strains that arise on their knees and joints. People are sometimes born with some joints abnormalities that also grow mechanical stress in their joints.
