Current study reports that there is a significant difference in gold content in different Swarna bhasma preparations. We purchased Swarna bhasma form different providers and carried out its physiochemical characterization.Standard.gold.nanoparticles were taken as control Morphological details of the samples were studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Swarna Bhasma sample size ranged 3μm-135μm and gold nanoparticles size ranged 88nm-206nm.The elemental analysis of Swarna Bhasma was carried out using Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). It was found that there was 66.22 % Au-content in one chemical provider which was significantly different as compared to 92.19 % from another chemical provider. Standard gold nanoparticles showed 100 % Au-content. Swarna bhasma has various pharmaceutical and therapeutic applications. Size and concentration of Au have significant effect on absorption, assimilation and excretion in the body hence variable Swarna bhasma samples might have variable effect on the body.
