Glycyrrhiza glabra calius cells grown on modified MS medium were exposed to various concentrations of Ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS). EMS in 0.2 to 0.3% concentration, favoured glycyrrhetinic acid production while suppressing the cell growth. Methyl methane sulfonate (MMS) in the same concentrations however, favours both the glycyrrhetinic acid production as well as cell growth.
