Herbal drugs are accepted as important therapeutic agents for the treatment of many diseases. Herbal medicinal products are dietary supplements that people take to improve their health. The development of authentic analytical methods which can reliably estimate the phyto-chemical composition, including quantitative analyses of bioactive compounds and other major constituents, is a major challenge to scientists. Pharmacognostical analysis of medicinal herbs remains challenging, as herbs are a complicated system of mixtures.
