Abstract

A novel series of seven quasi-macrocyclic complexes of transition metal ions such as Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) have been synthesized usi ng malonyldihydrazide, phenyl hydrazine and o- chlorobenzaldehyde. The synthesized complexes were characterized using molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, electronic and 1 H-NMR spectra. Based on the results obtained the co mplexes were proposed to have an octahedral geometry. The synthe sized complexes were also screened for their antiba cterial activities.
