Clinical electrophysiology

Clinical electrophysiology is the application of electrophysiology principles to medicine. There are two main divisions of this discipline are electrotherapy and electrophysiologic testing. Clinical electrophysiology can be used in the study and treatment of various physiological conditions, and most notably in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Electrophysiology studies test the electrical activity of your heart to find where an arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeat) is coming from. These results can help you and your doctor decide whether you need medicine, a pacemaker, an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), cardiac ablation or surgery.
