Increase in the number of eosinophils in the blood cell is called Eosinophilia and occurs in response to some allergens, drugs, and parasites, and in some types of leukaemia. Peripheral blood cell eosinophil count is >500/ μl. Eosinophilia can be idiopathic, the disease may be controlled with corticosteroids.

Eosinophilia occurs when either a large number of eosinophils are recruited to a specific site in your body or bone marrow produces too many eosinophils. Eosinophilia may be primary or secondary. Eosinophilia can be caused by a variety of conditions, diseases and factors like Parasitic and fungal diseases, Autoimmune diseases, Allergies, including to medications or food, Endocrine disorders, Tumors, etc. Eosinophilia due to asthma is marked by symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing. Rare symptoms of eosinophilia include weight loss, night sweats, lymph node enlargement, skin rashes, numbness or tingling sensation. Diagnosis of Eosinophilia is by test and to diagnosis tissue eosinophilia skin biopsy of the relevant tissue is performed.
