The term LASER is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The device produces coherent light by the process of optical amplification which is based on stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. the mechanism of LASER production is based on the excitation of electrons where exited electrons enters into the higher energy level of the atom and when they revert to their ground state, energy is emitted in the form of photons. As these photons are emitted from the same atom, it produces coherent beam of light which is directional. LASER shows vast range of uses in different fields like medicine, industrial market, military, research areas etc.
