Regional anesthesia is a method used to induce the anesthesia which involves inducing anesthesia in an appropriate part of the body. In this method local anesthetics are used by blocking the cluster of peripheral nerves to avoid pain and discomfort. It is a good procedure to avoid pain during and after surgical procedure when compare to the general anesthesia which sedates the whole body.
Within the few minutes of the administration, the regional anesthetics will begin working by blocking the nerves of the affected area so that the pain signals form the affected area will not reach the brain. Regional anesthesia is often used by dentists, surgeons and anesthetists while operation on the small parts of the body.
