Alabama Cancer Registrars Association

Alabama Cancer Registrars Association is a non-profit professional organization made up of cancer registrars all over the state of Alabama and surrounding states.  In summer of 1977, the University Hospital in Birmingham Tumor Registry was contacted by the experts on Cancer SEER and NCRA. Sixty-two registered participants were in attendance and came from Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.  The Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential demonstrates expertise in clinical research and medicine as well as the registry reporting analysis. Two chartered members are still active and present in this Association today. In 1989, the Alabama Cancer Congress was formed and several members of the association served mainly in planning the committee of this Congress for many years.  At the end of this meeting with the help of Rosemarie Clive from the COC the association was founded.  It is the non-profit volunteer organization with 14 chartered members who paid a fee of $4.00 to form the association.
