Alabama Geological Society

Alabama Geological Society, formed in 1963, with more than 30 geologists. The main is to promote geology as a profession and as a science, accumulate and make available geologic knowledge, and to encourage cooperation among members and branches of the profession and public appreciation of the utility and application of geological science. This society is the member society of the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies in August 1966 and affiliate of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. The field of interest of this society includes theory, concepts and techniques of science applied to remote sensing of earth, atmosphere, oceans etc. The members of this association include the experts from engineering as well as scientific disciplinary. Professionals from engineering background support geoscientific investigations with the development of hardware techniques while the scientific professionals evaluate the remote sensing activities in these areas. The society aids in close exchange of technical information among the members through discussions. This society provides quarterly magazines, educational programs, industrial newsletter, on-line lectures etc. to promote the knowledge of people regarding remote sensing.
