Alabama Orthopaedic Society

In 1952, Alabama Orthopaedic Society (AOS) was founded with the goal of identification and implementation of organizational changes to broaden participation of their member, non-dues sources of revenue that conform to the conflict of interest policy of the AOS, Maintain and ensure the effective continuity of business management for the AOS. They Develop and maintain a mechanism for identifying and training future AOS leaders and to promote an effective membership recruitment process.
They maintain an affordable dues structure while ensuring fiscal stability. They are active participant in state orthopedic associations, the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Southern Orthopedic Association, and the Medical Association of the State of Alabama (MASA). They dedicatedly working toward improvement relationships with orthopedic office managers to help orthopedic surgeons improve practice management techniques and promote programs to increase the success of members’ practices.
They collect and disseminate information impacting Alabama orthopedic surgeons and their practices. They educate the public on the management and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions, and support Patient Centered Care, promote the specialty of orthopedic surgery. The members of this society advocate for fair and equitable compensation for the delivery of orthopedic services and public policies that ensure quality musculoskeletal care in Alabama. They establish lines of communication with the general public as well as advocacy relationships and support and encourage the involvement of orthopedic surgeons in grassroots advocacy efforts and also oppose health care delivery systems that erect barriers between patients and access to orthopedic surgeons. This premier organization promotes the highest quality of musculoskeletal health for the citizens of the State of Alabama and provides educational programs for orthopedic surgeons in the management of all musculoskeletal conditions.
