American Association of Eye and Ear Hospitals

The American Association of Eye and Ear Centres of Excellence are comprised of specialized eye and ear procedures in the world. Members of this association are the pillars and major referral centres. They offer innovative teaching programs across the world and treat the most severely ill eye and ear patients. The association maintains leading edge technologies enabling them to provide highly specialized services which are not available in general hospitals. The association consists of Board of Directors composed of the top executives and clinicians from the institutions included under the association. The Association initially worked on taking care from the inpatient to the outpatient setting for a number of ophthalmic procedures.  It has mainly 3 objectives. Firstly, they wanted to organize themselves for future government relations efforts as such initiatives were needed.  Secondly, they wanted to develop group purchasing practices for more cost-effective acquisition of pharmaceuticals and surgical products and thirdly the institutions were not in competition with one another, they wanted to share information and best practices in order to improve their facilities and currently it consists of both domestic and international institutions. It delivers its membership and conducts innovative programs and services for enhancing their viability and to provide quality patient care. It conducts meetings two times in a year, membership working groups and leveraging brands.
