Based in Perry, Iowa, AASV has about 1,300 members involved in the practice, industry and academia of swine veterinarians in more than 40 countries. It plays an active role in promoting swine medicine as a viable option for veterinary students, the mission of the American Association of Swine Veterinarians to increase knowledge of Swine Veterinarians, protect and promote the health and welfare of pigs, approaches based on science-lawyer to vet industry and public health issues, promote the development and availability of resources that improve the efficiency of business activities, create opportunities that inspire personal and professional growth and interaction, mentoring students, encouraging lifetime careers as swine veterinarians. Journal of Swine Health and Production (JSHAP) is peer-reviewed bi-monthly AASV. AASV organizes seminars and educational events each year for the global pork industry. It is internationally recognized for providing scientific solutions focused on the complex challenges facing the swine industry.
