American Cancer Society Telethon is a fundraiser organized annually by Carbon Schuylkill unit of the American Cancer Society. It has recently hosted the 37th Annual American Cancer Society Telethon, which is a carnival of Eastern Pennsylvania's talent, benevolence and liberality and their obligation to the fight against cancer. It was made live in Jim Thorpe at Penn's Peak.
The donations from this are used to help funding the studies and treatments on cancer and also help in providing lodging at the Hope Lodge for those undertaking treatment along with their families. It also contributes for education and awareness programs on cancer.
Several performers give of their time to sing, dance and delight the spectators during the telethon. A band of volunteers help the telethon through-out the year to bring the success. They also invite people to share their stories in correspondence to bring inspiration and hope those who battle cancer. Several TV and on-line channels like Service Electric Cable TV in Hazleton, Lehigh Valley and Mahanoy City help each year to broadcast and radiate it transversely the region.Read More»
