American Dental Education Association

              The American dental education association (ADEA) was started in 1923 as the American association of dental schools.  It is known as the voice of dental education. It is a non-profit association representing academic dentistry and based in Washington, D.C. ADEA is to lead institutions and individuals in the dental education community to address contemporary issues which influence an education, the delivery of oral health care and research for the overall safety and health of the public. ADEA instituted open membership, which increased the number of ADEA member institutions and engaged their students, faculty, staff, residents and fellows in the association’s work and goals. ADEA institutional members include all 76 U.S. and Canadian dental schools.  ADEA is board of education and varied field that trains people as dental hygienists, dental assistants, general dentists, specialists, and dental laboratory technicians. These associations having different sectors such as academic affairs, anatomical sciences, nutrition, oral biology  behavioural science, and microbiology, biochemistry, business, cariology,  and financial administration,  clinic administration, biomaterials, , oral diagnosis/oral medicine, oral paediatric, periodontics, physiology, pharmacology, and therapeutics,  and maxillofacial radiology, orthodontics,  postdoctoral general dentistry and teaching and learning with emerging technologies. ADEA provides valuable support to entering students through its Division of Educational Pathways, encourages students from diverse backgrounds to learn about careers in dentistry as early as elementary school, Programs such as explore health, and the summer medical and dental education program. For dental educators, ADEA offers on going opportunities to advance their skills and knowledge. The ADEA leadership institute and the ADEA allied dental faculty leadership development program cultivate leadership skills. ADEA publishes the peer-reviewed journal of dental education, the bulletin of dental education, and the ADEA official guide to dental schools. It contributes to solving oral health care problems by encouraging dental education, research and patient care excellence, and provides financial support for dental education, research, and leadership through the ADEA gies foundation.  The gies awards for vision, innovation and achievement in dental education and oral health are distributed annually at a special celebration held in conjunction with the ADEA exhibition & annual session.
