American Textile Machinery Association

ATMA's national headquarters is Washington-based and staffed with long-term professionals having more than 200 years combined experience in management and development of associations. Since 1977, the professional staff has provided ATMA with expert financial administration, meeting planning, membership services and recruiting, communications support, organizational continuity, and leadership. ATMA members are represented in Washington, D.C. before members of Congress and government agencies.  These efforts currently focus on value of the dollar, emerging markets, and relevant trade issues affecting the textile industry.  The association is also aligned with other U.S. capital equipment industries with similar interests regarding federal government policy on technology and textile market concentrations.  Additionally, ATMA is active with non-government coalitions, such as those led by the National Association of Manufacturers. ATMA is actively engaged with customer associations in support of public policy positions to improve the competitive position of U.S. textile mills.  These groups include the American Textile Alliance and the National Council of Textile Organizations. TMA is a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO/Technical Committee 199 (Machinery Safety), and through this organization, the association reviews and comments on machinery safety standards as they are developed. ATMA members participate in the Product Liability Prevention & Defense Group, which helps equipment manufacturers prevent product-related accidents, lower insurance premiums, avoid litigation and improve defense posture in liability suits.  This is an extracurricular activity administered by ATMA staff.
