The National Biosafety Association a non-profit scientific society, founded in March 1999 with the aim of encouraging biosafety as a developing science in the country. In September 1999 it has carried out the I Brazilian Congress of Biosafety and the Symposium on Transgenic Products, counting on the participation of about 400 professionals, from Brazil and from overseas. Inside these two years, ANBIO has set up cooperative agreements with many sponsoring national & global supports such as CNPq, CAPES, FAPERJ, FINEP, FIOCRUZ and the United Nations Environment Programme; UNEP, qualified around 600 specialists in the most diverse fields related to biosafety and granted 250 scholarships for public organizations experts.
Our homepage holds the largest amount of biosafety information in Brazil, with the most important webpages on biosafety in Brazil and globally has helped a great number of students and experts interested in possession abreast on the subject of biosafety and related disciplines. ANBio has just been selected as an ABSA affiliate, pleased as the first Latin American systematic society to be an effective member of the Association. Through the II Brazilian Biosafety event & II Latin American Symposium on Transgenic Products, we shall count on the official presence of the ABSA directors and all ABSA affiliates shall have special discounts on the events fostered by ANBio.
