The establishment of the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology was a step with an objective of excellence and advancement in the field of Gastroenterology. The Association was established on 30th March, 1961 in Tokyo (Japan) and then it was incorporated in Hong Kong. It is affiliated with Organization Mondiale de Gastro-Enterologie (OMGE). Since its inception in 1961, The Association is dedicated to its goal towards the advancement of the science and practice of Gastroenterology and provides an encouragement for the treatment of Gastroenterology and coordinating scientific studies between various student, scientists and physicians throughout the region or outside the region. The Association also receives a donation for furthering the aims of APAGE. It provides an excellent opportunity to share or exchange the experiences, research on a common platform. The head office of the Association is also in Hong Kong and the current president of the society is Prof Kentaro Sugano from Tochigi. JGH trust was a new initiative in 1999 by the senior editors of JGH to create and promote the awareness about the Gastroenterology in the Asian Pacific Region. It provides a good platform for the young scientists, gastroenterologists and hepatologists to achieve excellence in their arena with the education, training, and seminars. The Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is the official publication of APAGE. The Association organized various events like workshop, seminar, expert lecture etc. to promote and update the studies of gastroenterology. The last event organized by the Association is APAGE 2nd Clinical Forum on Inflammatory Bowel Disease, 2016 with Theme of- IBD in the Asia Pacific – Time to Move Forward and upcoming event of the association is Asian Pacific Digestive Week with Theme of-"Innovative Approaches to Gastroenterology," which is going to be held in month of November, 2016 in Kobe, Japan.
