One sunny day in April 1956, the Asian-Pacific Society of medicine (APSC) came into existence, whereas specialists from numerous countries were within the thick of the well-attended initial Asian Pacific Congress of medicine in Manila. The presence of WHO’s who within the Asian-Pacific medicine circle and therefore the election of Dr. Antonio M. Samia, a noted Filipino heart surgeon, because the initial APSC president created the event doubly vital. In recognition of his position because the initial APSC prime foreman, moreover as his contributions to the international setting of medicine, Dr. Samia was given a spot in his name. The Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) represents 21 cardiology societies in the Asia-Pacific region.
The APSC hosts its main Congress every other year (in the odd numbered year) and every year from 2017. The APSC has 11 Scientific Councils.
