The organization was made in 1994. Since 1994 the organization has place on eleven meetings and assumed various other activities, including an e-print archive and the online journal Psyche. Since 1997, the ASSC has ordered annual conferences to promote interaction and binge knowledge of scientific and philosophical advances in the field of consciousness research. The ASSC is an academic society that supports rigorous research directed toward understanding the nature, function, and underlying mechanisms of consciousness. The ASSC contains members working in the pitches of cognitive science, medicine, neuroscience, philosophy, and other relevant disciplines in the sciences and humanities. The authorized journal of the society is the open-access journal Neuroscience of Consciousness. The association affords a freely available e-print archive of papers relevant to the study of consciousness. The ASSC is a member-run society that benefits greatly from the dynamic involvement of members in its multiple committees. These committees perform a change of different functions that are critical for the day-to-day running of the ASSC.
