Association of European Geological Societies

AEGS was formed in October, 1987 in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia, with preliminary discussion. From the International Amalgamation of Geological Societies (IUGS) it has honoured as Affiliated Organisation. The links between Geological Societies in Europe are primarily strengthen by these. Enrollment of the Sodality is open to all non-regime societies, institutions and in Europe active nation-wide in the geological sciences, whether completely or specialising in one or more of its branches. (AEGS) was established as its Membership is open to all non-governmental bodies,organisations in Europe active on a country-wide scale in the geological sciences, in one or entire field. The main purpose of the Sodality is to popularize periodic meetings (MAEGS) where European geology is discussed. In  these meetings geological quandaries of Europe are identified as a whole regardless of regional or national boundaries and promoting a cumulated understanding of geology, geophysics and geochemistry . Participation between workers is promoted in the different countries and geological societies of Europe. In different branches of geological cognizance, earth science is increment to public understanding and development of Europe.
