Autism Society of Serbia

Autism Society of Serbia is an international association whose main objective is to advance the rights of people with autism and their families and to help them improve their quality of life.

It ensures effective cooperation among more than 80 member autism organizations in more than 30 European countries, including 25 Member States of the European Union, governments and European and international institutions.

Autism-Europe plays a key role in raising public awareness, and in influencing the European decision-makers on all issues relating to the rights of people with autism and other disabilities involving complex dependency needs.

Autism-Europe has established a structured dialogue with the European Institutions and is also active towards the World Health Organization (WHO).

Autism Society of Serbia, Europe also enjoys a participative status (for non-governmental organizations) with the Council of Europe and in July 2002 lodged a collective complaint with the European Committee of Social Rights, becoming the first disability NGO to undertake such action.

The statutory mission of Autism Society of Serbia, Europe is to improve the lives of people with autism claiming their rights, including:

Representing people with autism towards all European Union institutions;

Promoting awareness of the appropriate care, education, and well-being of people with autism;

Promoting the exchange of information, good practices and experience.

Autism Society of Serbia activities include:

Publications: LINK magazine; position papers on health, ageing, inclusion, education and family needs; other documents;

Advocacy for the rights of people with autism and their families;

Initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of people with autism and their families, including client-oriented service delivery and scientific research.

Autism Society of Serbia, Europe also works in strategic coalitions with organizations that share the same concerns and goals to maximize the impact on European Union’s policies.
