Brazilian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology

Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology was founded on September 19, 1935. In nine months, the first Brazilian Orthopedics and Traumatology Congress ( CBOT )held in São Paulo, on July 1 , 1936, which consolidated their primary purpose of taking care of the scientific update and continuing education of its members .

SBOT became the largest institution of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Latin America and one of the world's largest in 80 years. Exam for Specialist Title Getting in Orthopedics and Traumatology ( TEOT ) and the Brazilian Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology have become global references and in number of participants, high standard of organization and scientific rigor.

SBOT was one of the first Brazilian medical societies to develop and implement a certification test (the TEOT ) , while there are specialties that , to date, based on the granting of title only in the resident's approval. SBOT is the national association of medical specialty, contracted unit of the Brazilian Medical Association (AMA), responsible for bringing together specialists in Orthopedics and Traumatology. SBOT promotes and has responsibility in the training of specialists, and provide conditions for continuous updating, in the form of teaching, research, continuing education, cultural development and professional defense.

SBOT represents Brazilian orthopedists, linking up with the public authorities, private and philanthropic also cooperating with other similar institutions for the solution of professional, social and educational problems.
