In 1952 the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine was formed.It is one of the largest multidisciplinary sports medicine organisation in the UK, which offers full membership to medical practitioners and as well as associate membership to similar professionals such as physiotherapists and sports scientists. BASEM has its own internationally recognised journal. The British Journal of Sports and Medicine which is keen to the promotion of good health through physical activity and provision of sports medicine.
The Association aims to provide support and education to all healthcare professionals which involves the care of athletes and individuals responsible to undertake, regular physical activity at all levels.
