Canadian Astronomical Society

The CAS was initiated in 1971 and established as a society of professional astronomers in the year of 1983. The society is keen on elevation and progression of awareness of the universe through research and education. The Society holds annual meetings and along with that the development and understanding of scientific plans, the support of the scientific doings of its affiliates, and the distribution of connected info amongst fellows and other involved persons.

Before the CAS was established, Canadian astronomers were very active in the American Astronomical Society. Once CASCA grew in association and density, Canadians started to put more of their energy for their own society. Unlike its American equivalent, CASCA organizes only one annual meeting in Canada.
