CAHS started its inception in the year 1962 when George Morley and Jeff Burch met and found out about their mutual interest in Canadian Aviation History. Then they decided to seek and find more local supporters. They named it Early Bird Club of Canada. The first formal society meeting of the group was held in Jeff Burch’s basement in February 1963. Later they changed the name of the group to Canadian Aviation Historical Society as they felt that the earlier name was similar to that of “Early Birds” of pre-world war 1 flyers. The journal that was earlier called “Early Bird Enthusiast” was also renamed to CAHS Journal.
