The Entomological Society of Georgia (ESG) is the largest organization in the world mainly serving the scientific and research needs of entomologists and individuals in varied disciplines. The society was founded in 1889 which has than 4000 members affiliated with different educational institutions, health agencies, private industry, and government experts. The members are researchers, teachers, extension service personnel, administrators, marketing representatives, and hobbyists etc. The premier event of the society is its annual Meetings and symposiums conducted annually. Every year approximately 2800 entomologists and other scientists gather to exchange scientific information and latest research in the field of entomology. Multiple numbers of symposia, conferences, submitted papers and continuing education seminars provides attendees the best opportunity to hear and present research results. The meeting mainly provides a chance to interact informally with peers and prospective employers to share their research ideas conducted annually.
The prime objective of the Society is to foster and share the entomological accomplishments among its members and also to promote the welfare of the entire State of Georgia. Annual meetings are held at sites throughout Georgia where entomologists and scientists in related fields gather and share their opportunity to present papers and posters. Each meeting opens with the introduction of a founder of the society followed by a series of invited papers covering an area of general importance and the scope of interest. In meetings the awards are generally presented for the best papers which are normally presented by the students.
