Entomological Society of Israel

The Entomological Society of Israel was established on 20th February 1962 after more than 20 years of continuous meetings and discussions on various entomological issues and it is located in Beit Dagan, Israel. The founders of the society include about 80 members and the most important ones among those are Yehezkel Rivnay, Chanan Bitinsky-Zaltz, Rachel Galun, Yitzhak Harpaz, Meir Pener and Shoshana Yatom. The Society promotes various disciplines of arthropod research, ranging from alpha taxonomy to molecular biology, organizes meetings and grants awards. The members of the society meet once in a year at a congress and they will discuss and report about recent achievements in both basic and applied research. It also organizes conferences on special topics in a year. The society offers research facilities, consultation, awards and scholarships. Membership in the Entomological Society of Israelis is granted to professional and amateur entomologist on recommendation by two members and after payment of a yearly membership fee. It also publishes a journal on entomology.
