Entomological Society of Japan

The Entomological Society of Japan or The Entomological Society of Japan is mainly established for the purpose of achieving the progress and dissemination of entomology. At first the society was named as "Tokyo Kunshan Meeting" in 1917 and it was renamed as “Japan Kunshan” Meeting in 1935 the again it was renamed as The Entomological Society of Nippon which is nothing but The Entomological Society of Japan in English. The members of the society study about insects, mites, spiders, nematodes, birds and other animals and researchers are mostly engaged in both basic and applied research activities for animal protection, especially pest control, environmental preservation, utilization of insects and other related areas. These studies about insects are familiar in daily life and many people are interested in specimen collections, ecological photography, and other related activities. Some of these insects are used as experimental animals in biology.
