The Estonian Society of Toxicology (ETS) was formed on 17th October 1997. The society was founded with the aim to join specialists of various fields of toxicological studies and research. The ETS promotes the respective education and training on toxicological studies and also organizes conferences with the intention of creating the scientific contacts between Estonian Toxicologists and their colleague abroad members. ETS is the member of EUROTOX (Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology) and IUTOX (International Union of Toxicology).
The accomplishment of ETS activities achieved on organizing a Joint Conference of Scandinavian Society of Cell Toxicology and Estonian Society of Toxicology (SSCT&ETS) in 1998.The main topics of the conference includes main research areas of ETS and SSCT members that includes in vitro toxicology, biochemical toxicology, ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment. This conference demonstrated altogether 31 oral and 27 poster presentations were held on October 23 - 26, 1998 in Tallinn. ETS organized a seminar about Good Laboratory Practice, April 2003 and lectured by Dr. Andrew Wadell. The funds were obtained from IUTOX and National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics.
ETS and its members promote the toxicology education in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with the involvement of Btox started by University of Uppsala. The Btox program is an education program for the future toxicology teachers as well as provides MSc graduation level courses for students.Read More»
