To promote and advance the scientific studies and conservation efforts of marine mammals and to gather and disseminate information in the public European Cetacean Society was founded on January 1987. The first website constructed on 1192. ECS organizes conferences annually within the Europe by 11 council members. There are more than 350 members from 25 European countries and worldwide. In order to promote and co-ordinate the scientific study and conservation of cetaceans and disseminate information to members and the general public is the main work criteria for the society. The members of this society update share and innovate on research issues on whale and dolphin. They discuss the proper procedure to approach cetacean for biopsies, and their transect and make DNA analyses, systematics, ecology and feeding, distribution and stock identity, ethology and modeling, conservation management, survey abundance, physiology and anatomy, pathology, medicine and disease and acoustics. ECS is the partner of ACCOBAMS qualified in Cetacean Conservation. This society organizes annually conferences with invited international authorities, talks and posters. They organize variety of workshop during the conferences as well. Cetacea are highly distinctive and specialized orders of mammals. Blue whale is the highly intelligent and communicative dolphins and largest animal in this family. They comprise toothed whales including dolphins and porpoises, baleen whales and the ancestors of modern whales. Cetaceans have been depicted in various cultures worldwide.
