CEAS was established on December 8, 1979 by a group of enthusiasts who were regularly found on airport Eelde. The club was mainly intended at that time as a contact point for the airport. Meanwhile, the association has grown to an active association of about 50 members, mainly spotters and / or aircraft photographers.
The board of CEAS consists of five members. At present, Erik Verkerk (Roden), Hans Rolink (Scheemda), Jans Bastiaans (Assen), Ewo van Houten (Assen) and chairman Henry Cazemier (Eelde).
It organizes about six times a year trips to airports, museums and other attractions. Not only in the Netherlands but also in Germany and Belgium. It also hold an annual three to four evenings where members can present their collected photos. These evenings take place in Eelde. GEAR, the quarterly magazine is send via email also. The GEAR is a digital magazine full of travel, movements, spotted and photographed aircraft and other articles related to aviation. To be quickly informed of the expected (special) aircraft at Eelde, members can participate in an e-group, in which all e-mail addresses of the members. This e-group is exchanged "Eelde' news.
