the health physics society (hps), is a scientific organization of professionals who specialize in radiation safety. its mission is to support its members in the practice of their profession and to promote excellence in the science and practice of radiation safety.
today its about 5,000 members represent all scientific and technical areas related to radiation safety, including academic, government, medicine, research and development, analytical services, consulting, and industry in all 50 states and the district of columbia. the society is chartered in the united states as an independent nonprofit scientific organization and, as such, is not affiliated with any government or industrial organization or private sector organisation.
the society also promotes:
it publishes health physics since 1958, a peer reviewed scientific journal; health physics news for material of interest to members, and operational radiation safety. it operates a website, "radiation answers", and has begun a series of special publications. it arranges annual meeting in july, and a mid-year meeting in january or february. the society's archives are held at the university of tennessee, knoxville.Read More»
