The mission of this company is to support collaborative research and progress in the areas of physiology and pharmacology. The Israeli Society of Physiology and Pharmacology (ISPP) is a meeting place of Israeli scientists from academia, industry and medicine who are actively engaged in research, teaching and application of the disciplines of physiology and pharmacology. Research in physiology and pharmacology in Israel is conducted within a broad framework of institutions, including four medical schools in the country, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beer Sheva; faculties of biology or life sciences seven universities, research institutes, government mainly the Israel Institute for biological research, research Institute of the Israel defense Forces (IDF), clinical and hospital laboratories industry. Many independent researchers are engaged in many aspects of the disciplines of physiology and pharmacology, with a particularly strong focus on neuroscience and cardiovascular system. As in other branches of university life in Israel, the emphasis is on cooperation with foreign scientists, which is favored by binational research funds, such as those with the USA and Germany. As it should be in a country that includes desert areas within its small area, much effort has been invested in the physiology of the environment over the years. This feature of the strong emphasis on scientific research that characterizes Israel's infrastructure, which has made many important developments in the past. In recent years, the expansion of the high-tech industry has brought with it an investment in developments based on physiology-for the medical field, and the development of new drugs. The latter is often a basis for collaboration between industry and academic expertise in universities and by independent industrial concerns. Investment in research in physiology and pharmacology has contributed to the high standards of medical practice in Israel, and promises to bring new developments to the economy and the health of the citizens.
