Italian Association for Clinical Microbiology

The AMCLI since 1970 is responsible for the clinical microbiology promoting scientific research and training, providing valuable support and indispensable to the clinical diagnosis of infectious diseases, with the promotion of clinical diagnostic and therapeutic approaches aimed at appropriateness criteria and professional clinical standards. All aimed at the primary objective of Clinical Governance, which is to encourage the development of excellence in health care. It consists of Scientific Association for the development of clinical microbiology, medical discipline which aims to study, diagnosis and therapy of human diseases caused directly or indirectly by microorganisms. That legislation includes, in particular, the bacteriology, the mycology, the Parasitology, Virology, the Seroimmunology and the in vitro study of antimicrobial drugs. The Association is named ASSOCIATION ITALIAN CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY and assumes the initials AMCLI.

The Association is non-profit and has for aim of:

To promote scientific research in clinical microbiology;
To promote the knowledge, development of clinical microbiology and related disciplines, carry out training and educational activities, residential and distance learning for professional training of all operators in the industry through conferences, courses, publications, meetings, events, initiatives and training and educational tools in general;
To promote and defend the cultural interests, professional and moral 'Meeting;
To campaign for, on the national and regional levels, a health organisation plan comprising Hospital services - or under the jurisdiction of the Public Health clinical microbiology institutionally or functionally autonomous, in relation to the needs of the territory;
Promote the development and recognition of clinical Microbiologist figures a degree in Medicine and Surgery, a Microbiologist degree in Biological Sciences or other degree, Microbiological Laboratory technician, according to their skills.

AMCLI organises a National Annual Congress and several thematic courses or meetings during the year. Members in AMCLI work as microbiologists in Public Hospitals, Universities, and National Institutions where they contribute to the benefit of public health. Microbiology research is performed in University. The Society publishes thematic educational books and has an online journal printed every 3 months in English. AMCLI organises a Summer School for Microbiology; technicians to improve their professional development.
