Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery

The Italian Society of Cardiac and Vascular Surgery was established in 1967 in Rome and draws its constitutional principles of the Italian Society of Cardiac and Vascular Surgery, commendable Society encouraged by Professors: Angelo Actis Dato, Pier Giuseppe Cevese, Alberto De Blasi, Renato Donatelli, Antonio Lanzara, Edmondo Malan, Amedeo Pasanisi, Luciano Provencal, Philip Scirè, Anacleto Venturini, Peter Valdoni, Giuseppe Zannini which preserves the cultural heritage. 

It is a non-profit making scientific society and exclusively pursues objectives of general interest, and social utility in promoting scientific research, training of specialists as the practice heart surgery, which is the branch of surgery that specifically affects the heart and vessels, programming in health and the quality control in the field of cardiovascular diseases. 

In particular, the Association has the following aims:

• promote analysis and explorations on cardiovascular diseases subject to surgical therapy; 
• safeguarding ethical principles and ethics in the professional field cardiac surgery; 
• assemble within the national cardiac surgeons and specialists of related subjects to cardiac surgery specialties which operate within the national health System; 
• promote the development and coordination of cardiac surgery in all national structures intervening at all institutional levels of health planning and verification of results; 
• to publicize the teaching, educational, scientific and research in all aspects of cardiac surgery in worldwide.
• safeguard the legal and professional associates; 
• define and standardize the clinical and operational standards and guidelines of the cardiac surgical specialties also with the use of information systems and the construction of an official data store.
