The New Zealand Veterinary Association (NZVA) is serving and supporting the members since 1923. It is the only membership association that represents New Zealand veterinarians. They believe veterinary profession is integral to wellbeing, improving animal health and status of animals in the society whether production, companion, research, wildlife, or recreation and sport. The NZVA is at the lead of promoting enhancements in animal welfare and health practice, and transparency, advocating for the clarity and enforceability of New Zealand’s animal welfare legislation. The NZVA is ardent about increasing veterinarians' knowledge for the better of the industry and ensuring there members to stay abreast of the industrial changes. They provide support, resources and expertise development chances for veterinary profession. It is the leading voice for New Zealand veterinarians. NZVA has 14 Regional Branches and 15 Special Interest Branches provide professional and local support to its members and sector partners, promoting excellence and sector partners in the field of veterinary. They are dedicated to safeguarding the high standards and skills of the New Zealand veterinary profession confirming the profession's impact to the country's economy, welfare and animal health is of the maximum quality, recognised and valued. The mission and vision of NZVA is to encourage brilliaknce in the veterinary occupation through its service to and on behalf of their members. The NZVA functions with clear policies, guidelines, codes of practice and position declarations in a place. As a professional association it has a community duty to develop policies on what are and are not acceptable practices within the veterinary occupation. In developing policies they practice good corporate citizenship. Standard Operating Procedures and Operational Policies are issued by the Board to ensure the management and operation of the Association follows decent practice and is standardised to advance efficiency. NZVA members have free access to a fully indexed and searchable e-library of quality Sci Quest New Zealand, Australian veterinary, animal science and veterinary continuing education publications. There publications, includes the New Zealand Veterinary Journal and Vet Script, which will keep you informed about the latest advances within the profession.
