The PSBMB was some time ago known as the Philippine Biochemistry Society (PBS). Administered by an Executive Board of (11) properly chose officers. The PBS was built up in August 1973 by a gathering of organic chemistry instructors to encourage the improvement of natural chemistry in the nation.

The PSBMB has been an individual from the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB; in the past FAOB) since 1973. It additionally speaks to the Philippines in the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB; once in the past IUB).
