Prince Edward Island Pharmacists Association

The Prince Edward Island Pharmaceutical Association is over a century old association that celebrated its centennial a decade ago in 2005. The association organized its first meeting on June 14, 1905 in Charlottetown. The association had its initial activities as issuing license individuals for pharmacy practice in the province. The association continued its dual role until the formation of PEI Pharmacy Board in 1983. Post to 1983 the body has been largely involved in economic welfare of pharmacists, professional promotions, advocacies, professional insurances and continuing educations of its members. As of 2007 there were around 125 members. The first employee of the association was its secretary cum treasurer with an annual salary of $25. The first conference of the association was held in Charlottetown in 1925.
