The Société Mathématique de France (SMF) is the chief professional society of French mathematicians. The society was founded in 1872 by Émile Lemoine. The Mathematical Society of France (SMF) is one of the obsolete learned societies for mathematics in the world. Law Association in 1901 , recognized public utility, its tenacity is "the advancement and spread of pure Mathematics and applied studies. "

It publishes several academic journals: Bulletin de la Société Mathématique de France, Mémoires de la Société Mathématique de France and Revue d'histoire des mathématiques. Name of the president is Stéphane Seuret and Vice-Presidents is Valerie Berthé ,  who is also a publications director. Aviva Szpirglas is responsible for education issues. Gerald Bourgeois is in charge of Luminy pole, Cyril Imbert is in charge of relations to the General Public

There are 2000 members in this society. SMF is interested in mathematics in all aspects: education at all levels, advances in research, interactions with science and technology. It is related to the companies and institutions that pursue the same goals. It interacts with many of them, either in France or in the world. SMF shares with the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research), it publishes mathematics since its inception. His publications are open to the international mathematical community.

They organize conferences, symposia, seminars, some of which are 2012 conference in Hue, Vietnam on “SMF-VMS joined congress - Joint Congress of Mathematics SMF-VMS”. The 2009 symposium was in Djerba. The 2008 seminars was in Chennai, India on "Indo-French Conference in Mathematics RMS / SMF / IMSC"
