The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)

Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Association was founded in 1979 formerly the American Association for AI is a non-profit scientific society mainly devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of the mechanisms that are underlying thoughts and intelligent behaviour & their embodiment in machines. AAAI aims to promote research in and is responsible use of AI. The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence aims to increase the public understanding of artificial intelligence improving the both the teaching and training of Artificial Intelligence practitioners and provide guidance for all the research planners and funders concerning the value and the potential of current AI development and the future directions.

 The organization was founded in the year 1979 under the name of American Association for Artificial Intelligence and then changed its name in 2007 to the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. It has around four thousand members worldwide. In its history, the organization was presided over figures in computer science such as the Allen Newell, Mr Edward Feigenbaum, Mr Marvin Minsky and Mr John McCarthy. The previous president of AAAI was Manuela Veloso, the president is Mr Thomas G. Dietterich, and the president elected is Subbarao Kambhampati. It provides service to the Artificial Intelligence community. AAAI sponsors many conferences and symposiums each year as well as providing support to fourteen journals in the field of artificial intelligence. AAAI produces quarterly publication, “AI Magazine”, which seeks to publish the significant new research and the literature across entire field of AI and to help the members to keep ahead of research outside immediate specialties. The magazine has been published since 1980. AAAI organises the AAAI Conference on the Artificial Intelligence which is considered to be the top most conferences in the field of AI.
