The European Association for the Study of Obesity

Established in the year 1986, to develop the clinical research in obesity. It is related to World Health Organisation (WHO). It enhances it works through collaboration, advancement, education and research. It main aim is to reduce unhealthy weight. It promotes obesity as an urgent and relevant health priority for policy makers, research funders, industry, and the public. It creates and supports active campaign groups. It connects the leading obesity specialists in Europe. It supports and develops research through its scientific advisory board. It provides a platform for sharing ideas and developing solutions in the European context. It has 32 member association representing more than 5000 individuals in Europe. It constitutes an online community of over 22,500 individuals. It is governed by general assembly. It encourages and supports research in the field of obesity. It promotes education by its task forces. It encourages the scientists of the future by presenting them an award for scientific excellence. It is spirited and active biomedical association. It can provide a platform for industries and leading researchers. The main objectives of this association are, to create awareness on obesity as a major public health priority in Europe. To develop and deliver education on over weight and obesity throughout Europe. To promote and encourage European obesity research. It contributes economic growth of Europe by preventing over weight and obesity. EASO present Friedrich Wasserman Award, it is very prestigious award. New Investigator Award for basic science and clinical research. EASO has task forces which covers the childhood obesity and obesity management. The activities of the task forces are, conducting educational courses, scientific networking programmes, symposia and satellite meetings. In 2005 EASO established New Investigate United (NIU). It provides the networking of new scientists. New investigators have an opportunity to meet and interact with other colleagues around the world
